Introduction
Welcome! I would like to get to you a bit. But first
- Download/Install R
- Download/Install R studio
- Download/Install Quarto the new and fancy version of R Markdown, which is a bit easier to use; the code is essentially the same. The Quarto version of this file is available here.
Not only can you type run R code, you can produce html and pdf files with math and R code together! Roughly speaking R studio is an easy way to use R, and R markdown is a language easily generates html files with R code and math symbols, allowing the use of basic Latex code; it is how I generates many of the html pages for our module.
Getting to know you
Please send me an html file generated using R markdown (Quarto) with the following information. It might be helpful to use the hello-0009.Rmd as a template.
- Name
- What programme/course are you in? BSc/Msc?
- What year are you in?
- Your favourite math/stats equation, say for example:
\(\sum_{i=1}^n i = \frac{n(n+1)}{2}\) or
\[ \mathbb{E} g(X) = \int_{-\infty} ^{\infty} g(x) f_X(x) dx\]
or
\[ \frac{d}{dx} \int_0 ^x f(u)du = f(x)\]
- Why are you taking this module
- What skills do you hope to obtain after taking the module?
- Have you taken Stat 0007 at UCL?
- Have you taken a module elsewhere that dealt with Markov chains?
- Have you used R before?
- What is your favourite show/movie? For example: Condor Heroes
